A Shivshahi bus traveling from Pune to Kolhapur suddenly burst into the Katraj Ghat

The bus was set on fire in front of the Aryan School at Bhillarwadi around 10am on Friday as the engine heated up the slope. The bus had a total of 29 passengers, but fortunately there were no casualties. Shivshahi bus from Pune was being carried to Kolhapur due to engine heating on Katraj Ghat route. Bus driver Libati Pandurang Kharate immediately took the bus to the side of the road and contacted the fire station.

Firemen at Katraj Fire Station – Ramdas Shinde, Mahadev Mangade, Pankaj Ingavele, Sagar Ingle, Nilesh Tangude, Shubham Shirke, Rupesh Jambale, driver – Ganesh Bhandare were rushed to the spot. The bus had 29 passengers and was getting away from the bus as the bus smashed the glass and waited for the smoke to come out and regained control of the fire within minutes. Fire crews ejected 29 passengers from the bus safely.
