Death of a Mahavitaran employee while repairing an electric pole

*Bhushan Garud :* An employee of the Mahavitaran died while repairing an electric pole in front of the Shantinagar Society at Kondhwa Budruk in Shatrujay Temple Road, Pune. His name is Amol Sambare (25) of Katraj.

The main line in front of the Shantinagar Society was sparking from Monday morning. Due to this, there were sparks on the road. Realizing the possibility of an accident, the residents here contacted the Municipal Office and demanded repairs.

Amol Sambare and his colleagues at the Padmavati power plant went to the pole for repair at around 10.30 am. Sambare suffered a lightning strike while he was working. It took half an hour for the Mahavitaran to reach the fire brigade. Until then Sambare was still on the pole, with the help of a private crane, he was taken down and taken to a private hospital for treatment. However, doctors said that he died before treatment. Sambare had been employed as a permanent worker in the Mahavitaran just six months before.

The information about the death of Amol Sambare, whether there was a shock or other reasons, will only be revealed after the autopsy report, said Madhusudan Barkade, executive engineer of Padmavati Division of the Mahavitaran.
