American Tennis player Serena Williams played the last match of her tennis career earlier today at the Arthur Ashe Stadium marking the end of an era. Serena was defeated at the hands of Ajla Tomljanovic in the third round of the ongoing US Open. The American legend gave her all in the last match of her life but failed to overpower her Australian opponent. She lost 7-5, 6-7, 6-1 to Tomljanovic in a nail-biting battle that lasted 3 hours and 5 minutes.

Ajla Tomljanovic apologised to the fans for ending the career of their favorite tennis star with a defeat. She said she felt sorry as she loved Serena as much as the fans did. It was a surreal winning moment for Tomljanovic as she had thought Serena would beat her. The Australian did not celebrate her win over the G.O.A.T (Greatest of All Time) in the third round of the tournament.

An emotional Serena broke down during her farewell speech after getting eliminated from the tournament by Tomljanovic. She stated that there would be no Serena if there hadn’t been Venus. Her elder sister, Venus, also had tears in her eyes as she saw the Tennis Star shower love on her from across the court. During her final speech, Serena thanked he family and friends to make a positive impact on her career.

She made a special mention of her dad during her emotional address. She said she knew he was watching and thanked him and her mother for whatever she has been able to achieve in her life. She said they deserved everything and she was ever grateful for them.
