Tackled DSP Devinder Singh, dismissed, sent to court for 15 days

Sacked DSP Devinder Singh of Jammu and Kashmir, arrested on charges of colluding with terrorists, has been sent on 15 days remand by the NIA court. Three Hizbul militants arrested along with Devinder Singh have also been sent on remand. 

The four arrested persons, including Devinder Singh, were produced by the NIA in the NIA court in Jammu. Whereupon, the court ruled to send him on remand. The NIA took over the investigation against the three terrorists of Jammu and Kashmir sacked DSP Devinder Singh and Hizbul Mujahideen arrested on 18 January. 

The NIA has registered a case against Devinder and three terrorists after receiving orders from the Union Home Ministry. A day earlier on Wednesday, the NIA raided Devinder Singh’s house in Srinagar. 

On January 11, Hizbul Mujahideen top commander Naveed Babu, along with his companions Rafi and a lawyer named Irfan, was arrested in a car on the highway near Kulgam. He was allegedly taking Naveed to Jammu to help him travel to Pakistan with Irfan.

DGP medal and citation of Devinder Singh seized

Earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir administration on Monday seized the DGP’s Commendation Medal and Citation from the suspended Deputy Superintendent of Police Devinder Singh. Singh has been arrested for helping terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. The Sher-e-Kashmir Police Medal was also taken from the suspended officer five days earlier. The order to seize the medal was issued by Director General of Police Dilbag Singh.
