Air India Flight Makes Emergency Landing in London; No Security Problem Found

New Delhi: Security check on an Air India plane that made a precautionary landing at London’s Stansted airport has been complete and no problem was found, the airline’s spokesman said on Thursday.

The bomb threat on an Air India passenger aircraft AI 191 from Mumbai to Newark in the US was a hoax, the spokesman said, adding that the plane is still on the ground and the passengers are being looked after.

The official had earlier said the plane was back in the air.

The Boeing 777 landed safety and the runway was reopened and fully operational after a delay, Stansted Airport said.

‘We are sorry for any disruption caused by the incident and would like to thank you for your patience,’ Stansted Airport said on Twitter.

After the plane made the emergency landing, it was isolated away from normal airport operations.

The Royal Air Force deployed Typhoon aircraft to intercept and escort the civilian airliner.
